When loving couple Gary and Amber tied the knot on Jan 7, they decided to put a creative spin on wedding traditions.
Stomper Lincoln, a close friend of the couple and one of Gary’s groomsmen, shared with Stomp how they switched the roles of the bride and groom on their wedding day.
In Chinese wedding custom, the groom and his groomsmen have to “gatecrash” the bride’s house on the wedding day. This means that they have to make it through a series of obstacles set by the bridesmaids to reach and “claim” the bride, who is hiding in her house while wearing her wedding dress.
However, Amber and Gary decided to reverse the traditional roles, with Amber being set tasks by Gary’s groomsmen instead - with the look to boot!

Amber suavely completed all the tasks that Gary’s groomsmen had set, while decked out in a fitting suit, complete with a fake moustache. Her bridesmaids were wearing matching suspenders as they assisted her.
Not to be outdone, the groomsmen wore pleated skirts as they egged Amber on.
When she finally made it through all the obstacles to find Gary in his room, wearing a glamorous white wedding dress, he laughingly called to the bridesmaids and groomsmen to not take photographs of them.
The Stomper said:
“No one other than close family members and friends was informed of the plan so you can imagine the shock and laughter from the guests at the dinner (when they watched the video of the gatecrashing)!”
He added:
“I wish them a happy marriage and that they have a good life. Congratulations!”
